Angel is a super sweet 8 month old girl that was surrendered, along with her siblings, to a gassing shelter. Angel is very shy when you first meet her but, after just a few minutes today, she was trying to be a lap dog and giving me kisses. She would be great in a home with kids to grow up with.
Angel went to a home with young children and cats. This is what the foster mom wrote. Angel is doing well. She loves her crate and goes in to nap without us even asking her. We're working on house training - she's does well first thing in the morning but has had a few accidents in the evenings. When we take her out, she gets very distracted by sounds, people and other dogs.
She's very sweet, a little timid when outside and gets along well with our cats as well as other dogs. We took her to a friend's house over the weekend and she played in their yard with their two dogs. She also likes riding in the car, chasing a ball and snuggling while we watch TV. She really wants to be a lap dog!
If you would like to meet Angel, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Meet Bo! This sweet boy came from a nasty shelter where 90% of the animals that enter this shelter get euthanized, so sad! Bo came to us very sick. I received a call from a shelter volunteer stating Bo was lethargic and needed vet care immediately or he would be another statistic. I said to get Bo to Charlotte and we would do our best to save him. And that we did!! Our vet did an awesome job saving this boy's life. We all did a lot of praying! Bo is approximately 1 1/2 to 2 years old. I spoke with the wonderful foster family today and Bo is doing so well. He is so happy, energetic, eating well, gaining weight, learning basic commands, loves to play with their lab, and just a love bug.
Update from the foster family!
Bo is doing great! He is an active, friendly and loving boy. Bo loves to play with our lab and will run in circles in our back yard - he is really fast too! If our lab doesn't want to play, he will jump in front of her to get her going and if that doesn't work, he'll grab one of the outside toys and just run and run til he's had enough. After his spurts of running, Bo is ready to come in the house and take a nice long nap. Bo is friendly with other dogs and wants to play with them. He is friendly with everyone he's met and is very happy to be petted. Like most rescued dogs, he just can't believe his good fortune that he can get a head/neck/ear rub or his belly rubbed if he rolls over. At night, he snuggles next to me as close as he can get, on the coach when I watch TV or read. Bo is very sweet and makes the cutest faces, by cocking his head this way or that when you talk to him.
If you are interested in meeting Bo, email email@example.com.
Bruno was an owner surrender to a local shelter. As usual, I went to pick up Rex, saw Bruno and could leave without both. Bruno is super sweet, 1 1/2 years old, was great with Rex on the ride back to Charlotte, they were really up close and personal since my plan was to pick up one dog not two..... Bruno does need some basic training, seems to respond to verbal commands like "no", better. He is super sweet and wants to please. I am sure, with some training, Bruno will be an awesome addition to any home!
Bruno went to our adoption event this weekend. I was so impressed with wonderful behavior. Bruno was the most behaved dog there. He was great with everyone he met, dogs, kids, and adults. We desperately need a foster home for him this week. If you meet this handsome boy, you will fall in love!
Bruno is in a foster home with another male lab. Bruno loves to run and play with his new friend. I will get an update soon.
Update: Bruno is doing well in the house and loves to play in the backyard. He sleeps happily next to the bed at night and is a big cuddler. Bruno will crawl up in your lap while you watch TV. He is very happy and energetic when you come home. He will jump on you to say hello but settles down quickly. Bruno doesn't realize how big he is.... I know this behavior can be corrected with some training.
If you would like to meet Bruno, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
This super sweet three year old boy was rescued from a shelter in SC. Charlie had been at the shelter for over six weeks because the staff just couldn't euthanize him because he was just so awesome. We know this rarely happens at any shelter so, when asked to help, we couldn't resist. Here are the shelter notes. On Christmas day one of our employees saw someone push him out of their car near our shelter. He ran behind the car for a few minutes to try to catch back up but they just kept going. Our heart broke for this poor boy. Charlie is an awesome dog! He is dog friendly and people friendly.
I went to visit with Charlie today and he was so excited to see me. He gave me kisses and all he wanted was to get in my lap. He is adorable and a great size.
Charlie went to a foster home with two young children. I will get an update soon!
Update from the foster mom!
Charlie is doing well. Overall, I think he’s an extremely well-behaved dog who loves to snuggle and take walks.
· He loves the kids, especially my youngest and loves to sleep on her bed at night.
· He has gotten progressively more afraid of my husband. At first, he would come up to him but now he runs out of the room when Eric is there. My husband has a loud voice and is tall and perhaps this brings up some old memories?
· He is afraid of the dark. It’s really odd. He won’t go out to use the bathroom unless it’s light outside and will hold it until the morning.
· He’s not motivated by food or toys! This has made training on simple commands a little harder. He doesn’t seem to know the basic ones but we are working on it. I will say that I don’t think this is all that necessary for him because he is naturally a really well-behaved dog.
· He uses the bathroom only in the natural areas. This is a really great habit!
· I think he could spend his day snuggling with us. He definitely acts like an older dog.
· He’s great on walks. Really great. And I even got on a bike and he trotted right beside me and never got in front of me.
· He’s pretty friendly towards all of our neighbors’ dogs.
· I have only heard him bark twice. He’s generally very quiet.
If you would like to meet Charlie, email email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org.
Daisy is a wonderful 9 month girl that was surrendered by her owner. She is super smart and loves everyone she meets. Daisy was held over at the shelter for several weeks because the workers adored her. Daisy knows her basic commands and has been working with a trainer. Please give this sweet girl a chance!
Daisy went to a foster home today. She is with two other dogs and is having a blast! I will get an update soon.
Update from Daisy's foster mom!
Daisy is a very sweet girl! She loves being around people and other dogs. She is getting better about the house training. Daisy doesn't like being in the crate when you are at home. I tried the first night and after an hour of crying, I let her sleep with me and the boys. She sleeps with us every night and doesn't have any accidents, and then stays in the crate when I go to work. I feed the dogs in the crate so she is getting better about going in there when she knows she's gonna eat. I bought a prong collar to stop her from dragging me like crazy when she walks and she's doing great on it. She is much better at walking on a leash now, and she's gonna begin puppy training classes at the Petsmart.
Daisy was at our adoption event this weekend and was was absolutely great with all dogs and everyone she met. Daisy is super smart, knows commands, will sit and automatically put her left paw up for a shake. She is adorable!!!!!!
If you would like to meet Daisy, email email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org.
Dale is a handsome 2 year old boy that was surrendered to a small shelter in rural SC. Dale is super smart! Our trainer has been working with him. He learned the sit command in just a couple of minutes. Dale is a submissive boy and would love a child to grow up with. I love those gold eyes and shiny coat! With some more training, he will be a wonderful addition to any home.
Dale's foster mom wrote this!
Dale loves to be around people, likes being cuddled and gives back a lot of love. He gets along well with dogs of all sizes and temperaments and would love to have a brother/sister to play with in his permanent home. . He is also very gentle with kids. He loves my neighbor's 2 year old son. He doesn't need to be crated, quietly sleeps on the floor of our bedroom throughout the night. Even when left alone at home, he does just fine. Doesn't beg for or try to steal food, is happy with whatever food is given to him. Doesn't have the habit of counter surfing or chewing up stuff. When someone comes to the door, he barks at strangers at first but quickly warms up and becomes friendly and submissive. He is very obedient, if we ask him not to do something, he listens. He doesn't try to climb the bed or the couch. He is happy sitting on his dog bed or on the carpet. He has learnt to walk very well on the leash. He loves taking walks and is ecstatic over car rides. He is also a very good backseat passenger, doesn't disturb you and is just happy to feel the wind on his face. It appears that he has never played with a ball or played fetch and till now has not shown much interest in playing on his own.
He is such an affectionate and loyal dog and will surely make a very good companion to one lucky family.
If you would like to meet Dale, email email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org.
Meet Davidson! He is the sweetest dog! When we rescued Davidson, he weighed 53 lbs. He has gained 11 lbs since going to a foster home. Despite his condition, he loves everyone he met. He met the "house" cat at the vet and was great. He is in a foster home with three labs, three grade school children, loves to ride in the car, jumps right in, LOVES his ball, carries it all the time, is house trained, crate trained, and is ready for his forever home. He is a handsome boy, born 5/12/11. He is on a rich diet the vet recommended, getting fed three times a day, and all blood work came back in the normal range. Davidson is a diamond in the ruff.
If you would like to meet Davidson, email email@example.com.
Meet our PRECIOUS Dixie! These pictures do not do her justice as she had just been spayed but it was the only way to keep her still long enough to get a decent shot! Dixie came from a high kill shelter where she was dumped JUST AFTER having a liter of puppies!!! (Where did the puppies go???) According to our vet, even though she is only about 1.5 yrs old, this had to be her third liter and she is still 10 lbs underweight.... What an awful life this sweet baby must have endured. But amazingly, this wonderful girl is still SWEET, LOVING AND TRUSTING with all people! And did I mention HAPPY? She has such a complete joy for life - even the simple act of rolling in the grass sends her into fits of delirious running : ) Dixie is a chocolate Lab/ Terrier mix that is house and crate trained. She is in a foster home that has frequent visits from small children and good natured-ly accepts their attention and affection. She is still a young dog so she has a lot of energy to work off and she still needs a lot of training on the leash. This is a true gem! To learn more about her please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
UPDATE: Our precious Dixie continues to gain weight and adore belly rubs! She has such a wonderful, affectionate personality. She is currently in a foster home with another dog and they play constantly! She would not do well in a home with small dogs or cats. Given her "low to the ground" stature and bowed legs, we can only guess she is mixed with English bulldog or maybe American Staffordshire Terrier. If you would like to learn more about Dixie, email email@example.com.
Emmy, a gorgeous 4-5 year old girl, was brought to us by a friend that wanted to make sure Emmy had a wonderful life. Emmy has an old injury, her back right leg, that appears to have never had medical care. We desperately need a foster home so we can get her ready for her forever home. I brought her home with me today to temperament test her. Emmy was good with my five dogs. She did snarl at a couple of my male labs when they were "too interested" in her.
The lady that brought Emmy to us had this to say about her.
Emmy is around 4 years young. She is a very happy and active girl in spite of her injured leg. I pulled Emmy from a high kill shelter. She had come into the shelter with the bad leg. It is suspected she was hit by a car. The leg does NOT slow her down. She LOVES to run and play.Emmy does fairly well off leash. She likes to ride. In fact, she will make you think that she can't get into the car on her own....trust me she can. :) She is such a ham and has been a real joy. She prefers male dogs. She had a great hound buddy named Milton that she had great fun with. She does get along with females, but not dominant females. She has an exuberance for life and has been a real joy.
Emmy went to a foster home this week. She is doing well and loves playing with the resident lab. I will get an update soon.
If you would like to meet Emmy, email firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com.
This is Hank! He is a handsome 11-12 month old super sweet boy. A volunteer saved him from a gassing shelter. After meeting Hank, she could not leave him there to die. He has been in a temporary foster home where he was with other dogs, kids, and loved everyone.
This is a note from Hank's foster family.
Hank joined the dog pack with no problem! Napped in the sun, played chase and enjoyed being outside with the other dogs. Gobbled down lunch, takes treats gently. No problem acclimating in the house. Taking a nap under the dining room table while I cook dinner. Most of the time will come when called and sit. Has a gentle disposition. More to come.
Here is an update on Hank.
Hank has made much progress on many fronts. His voracious appetite has led to a healthy weight gain. Many people comment on what a handsome
boy he is. While our trainer helped us train our other dogs, Hank learned his manners as well. His food motivation makes him easy to train. Sitting, coming when he is called, walking nicely on the leash, and only pottying outside are some of his attributes. Lying quietly by the dinner table is something he has nearly mastered. His activity
level is normal, and he plays well with our other dogs. Running on the leash with me and our pack seems very enjoyable to him, and he is a great runner. When we need him to be calm, he can settle right down. Everyone comments on how gentle and calm he is. Hank is a very sweet dog who will make a great addition to some lucky family.
He is very laid back and happy to sit at my feet most of the time. Gets along well with our dogs and now becoming more interactive. Will play chase and tug of war but prefers to lay on the deck or be inside with me. Appetite is fair. Makes funny groaning noises while sleeping or yawning! housebroken, although will pee a slight bit when excited and that seems to be decreasing. Very affectionate wanting to be near me at all times. Hank prefers to be indoors. Is settling in and starting to see more of his personality shining through! Easy dog to foster.
Hank is eating better. He is evolving into a dog that would be well suited for someone who wants a less active, mainly indoor dog. We do not crate him and can leave alone at home, he loves
his dog bed! He gets along with other dogs and will play for a bit then prefers to take a nap. Will be fine as only dog. He needs work on
the leash. He is very affectionate.
If you would like to meet Hank, email firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com.
This beautiful girl, born 12/27/11, was surrendered by her owner because she chased chickens.... isn't that what labs do? Jessie rode in the back of my car with Santa, another lab, and they were great together. Jessie was in a home with kids and dogs.
Jessie went to a foster home with another lab and kids. I will get an report soon!
If you would like to meet Jessie, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Meet Max! This super sweet 10 year old boy was surrendered to us by his owner. Max is awesome! He is in a foster home with a cat and is doing great. Max is just an awesome boy that loves everyone he meets, two and four legged. Max doesn't need to be crated, loves to go for a walk, loves the ball, and is great in the car. He is just about perfect for any family!!
Max is neutered, current on vaccines, and will be microchipped prior to adoption.
If you would like to meet Max, email email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org.
OSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED!!! Miller is one of our PRECIOUS Lab/Hound mixes. He is not a huge guy, weighing only 55 lbs but he is LOADED with tons of personality and charm! In addition to his BEAUTIFUL long ears, he is a "hugger"! He loves to give hugs to all the humans he meets. This guy is such a cool character... If you are looking for the "James Dean" of dogs, this is the guy. Miller will be fully vetted and is heart worm negative. He is good with other dogs but we need a foster home for him so we can find out all of his wonderful traits and abilities. To find out more please email email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org.
Precious Penny is a 2 yr old, small Lab mix only weighing about 40 lbs. She found herself locked up at a local shelter with only one day to live...We couldn't let this pretty little "pocket Lab" die so we scooped her up. She went to a temporary foster where she has been a delightful guest! She is great with the other two dogs in the family, does wonderfully in the crate during the day and is also doing well on her potty training. This poor sweet girl has suffered some harsh treatment in her short life though, as the foster Dad reports any sudden movements will make her drop to the ground and roll over. Poor baby! However, she is energetic and loves to play with toys, she only needs a tender and loving family to teach her that humans are not all scary and mean! Are you the one to give this ADORABLE girl the love and attention she needs??? Please email email@example.com
This is Polly!! This 8 year old sweet girl was left at a high kill shelter by her owners. She was so sad. She went to a foster home where she is staring to feel better. The foster mom said Polly slept all night, not a peep out of her. She seems to want permission to do things (eat, go into a room or go outside) She will just wait til you tell her its ok. She won't go outside without me going with her and if she doesn't see me she comes running back. Poor girl... She has been a perfect overnight guest and we look forward to getting her back to her happy self :)
Another update from the foster mom.
Polly is a sweet and lovable lab that wants nothing more than to be with her family. She has gone from a scared little girl to a happy, friendly and playful girl in just one week. She loves her doggy playmates and would do well in a home with another dog to romp around with. She is a quiet girl and only barks when somebody comes to the house or fence. She hasn't figured out dog beds yet but will sleep on a comforter in her foster mom's bedroom with the rest of the dogs.. She sleeps all night and will go out to potty and comes right back in. She is starting to play with toys and will entertain herself by throwing the toy around and catching it herself. She loves her dog housemates and likes to clean their faces (whether they like it or not). She has a very good appetite and loves her milkbone treats. She loves to be petted and loved on and I think she would do well with a family with older kids to spoil her...
Polly is in a home with other dogs and gets along great with everyone.
If you would like top meet Polly, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com.
Meet Rex! He is the sweetest older man you will ever meet. Rex was picked up as a stray and held at animal control for weeks while they waited for his owner to pick him up. To be held over for weeks, speaks volumes about this sweet boy! The vet thinks he is approximately 7 years old, under weight and is scheduled to get neutered next week.
If you would like to meet Rex, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Sweet Sally is 5 months old and a very happy girl that was rescued from a high kill shelter along with her five siblings. I spent time today with the pups and had a blast. Sally is very loving, loves a ball, she loves everything and would be amazing in a home with a child or two to grow up with.
If you would like to meet Sally or any of the puppies, email email@example.com.

Wiggles is a super sweet 1 year old girl that is very submissive to other dogs. She is shy at first but warms up quickly! There isn't a mean bone in this dog's body and needs a home where she can blossom into her beautiful self. Wiggles is true to her name. She is so happy to meet you, her whole body wags!
Wiggles went to a foster home with another handsome lab. I will get an update soon.
